Street village in England

YESTERDAY May 15th

We are in England!  More specifically, in the southern part,  in Somerset, staying with Les's friends Arthur and Genesta.   To get here,  we went by Stonehenge.   Lots of sheep and lot of people!

TODAY May 16th

We went to a small village nearby called  STREET. Here is the view from the car.  One's heart does a bit of a flip when you see the cars coming on the right!  And getting in on the left to be a passenger is odd as well  LOL

On the way to Street,  one can see the Glastonbury Tor.    Wiki says it is ancient and natural with lots of artifacts from Iron Age found around it.  England has a fascinating history with ruins all over the place.  How I love feeling the history in the landscape, in the buildings - everywhere. Les's buddy Arthur is a walking archeologist!

Here is a nice shot from the car:

Here is my very favorite shot, also from the car:  G Tor is there on the mount.

and here is a Glastonbury can from a store we were in today:

This store is all over England and their pastys (pronounced pass tees) are so SO good!

We had three different pastys:  mince meat,  cheese and mushroom and cheese and chicken.  All yummy.   The one on the far right is the original pasty,  according to Les and Arthur.

Today was local farmer's market day.  The strawberries we got were sweet.   Arthur and Genesta bought kippers for tomorrow morning and roe that they cooked up today for lunch.

There are 2 dogs here that are related to our late dog REX.  Very different personalities and very loving dogs!   Boy do we miss our buddy.

Lastly, here is a tiny portion of the garden in front of the 400 year old house we are staying at....the English are so  proud of their gardens and this one is proof of the loving care Genesta has.
